Getting published: The Talking Cure

The path to getting published took much longer than my clients Professional Gillian Straker and Dr Jacqui Winship expected, but their wonderful book The Talking Cure is now available in Australia and South Africa.

About The Talking Cure

‘Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.’ Carl Jung

The essence of successful therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the patient, a dance of growing trust and understanding. It is an intimate, messy, often surprising and sometimes confusing business – but when it works, it’s life-changing. In The Talking Cure, psychotherapists Gillian Straker and Jacqui Winship tell nine inspiring stories of transformation.

How did I help the authors get published?

Gill and Jacqui originally approached me for a manuscript assessment. When I read their work, I knew that they had a great idea for a book – but little chance of getting published.* After I provided detailed feedback on their work in progress, they asked me to work closely with them.

Their goal was nothing short of a traditional book deal. I’m beyond thrilled to have helped them get published.

*I’m writing a case study with the authors about our process, which I’ll share with my newsletter subscribers. If you’re interested in the gory details and to learn what it really takes to get a publishing deal, please sign up here.

The Talking Cure website has lots of additional articles as well as information on the authors’ media appearances (includes TV and ABC’s Conversations, already!) and reviews.
